Gravity-Type
Filtration Unit
It is designed to purify coolant fluids and cutting oils in
CNC machines and chip removal processes, ensuring a
clean and efficient fluid cycle within the system.
By removing chips, metal particles, and other
contaminants from the fluid, it helps your machine
tools and manufacturing processes run more
efficiently and reliably.
General Features
Gravity-Based Filtration Principle: Filtration occurs naturally through gravity flow, without the need for pump-driven pressure. This ensures low energy consumption and a reliable, stable filtration process.
Highly Efficient for Fine Chips and Particles:Using filter media (paper roll or wire mesh), the system effectively separates fine chips and small contaminants from coolant.
Low Energy Consumption: Because the filtration relies on gravity rather than mechanical pumping pressure, overall energy usage and operating costs remain low.
Continuous and Stable Filtration: Accumulated sludge and chips move across the filter media automatically, allowing uninterrupted filtration cycles.
Simple and Durable Mechanical Design: With very few moving components, the unit offers long service life and minimal maintenance requirements.
Recycled Clean Coolant System: Filtered clean coolant is returned to the CNC machine, improving machining stability and coolant lifespan.
High Flow Capacity: Can be configured to support large machining centers and multi-machine coolant circulation systems.
Easy Filter Media Replacement: Filter paper rolls can be replaced quickly. Optional automatic paper advance systems are available.
Compatible with Multiple Coolant Types: Works efficiently with water-based coolants, oil-based fluids, and chemical coolant blends.

Hinged Belt Conveyor
-
How does a gravity-type filtration unit work? The system filters coolant by allowing it to flow naturally over the filter media using gravity, separating fine chips and particles without pump-driven pressure.
-
What type of chips is this system suitable for?It is ideal for fine, short, and powder-like chips, commonly produced in milling, grinding, and precision machining operations.
-
What is the filtration accuracy?Depending on the filter media, it provides 30–60 micron filtration. Finer filtration levels can be achieved with optional media.
-
Does it consume low energy?Yes. Since filtration relies on gravity, energy consumption is minimal. Only a low-power pump is used for coolant recirculation.
-
How often should the filter media be replaced? It depends on chip load. With automatic paper advance, the system renews itself continuously. Manual roll replacement is quick and simple.
-
Can it filter heavy or long chips? No. Gravity units are designed for fine chips only. For long, stringy, or heavy chips, scraper or hinged-belt conveyors are recommended.
-
Is maintenance difficult? Not at all. Maintenance is minimal—filter paper replacement, tank cleaning, and basic fluid level checks are typically sufficient.
-
What coolant types is it compatible with?Compatible with water-based coolants, oil-based emulsions, and various chemical coolant blends.
-
Can it be integrated with my CNC machine easily?Yes. The modular design allows quick installation as a standalone or auxiliary filtration system for most CNC machines.
-
Is international service and spare parts support available?Yes. Astor Europe provides global service, installation, and filter media support.
