Central
Filtration
System
It is developed for liquid filtration and chip separation
processes in metal cutting operations.
It is used for transporting all types of metal
chips—regardless of shape and type—provided
the chip length is less than 2 cm, and for liquid filtration
within a precision range of 150–250 μm, depending on the
required working accuracy.
General Features
Shared Filtration for Multiple CNC Machines: A central system supplies filtered coolant to multiple CNC machines from a single large filtration unit, simplifying plant layout.
High Filtration Capacity: Large-volume tanks, powerful pumps, and advanced filtration technologies efficiently handle heavy chip and sludge loads.
Reduced Energy and Consumable Costs: Instead of installing a separate filtration system for each machine, one central unit provides:
Lower energy consumption
Reduced filter media usage
Lower total operating cost
High-Precision Multi-Stage Filtration: Drum filters, magnetic separators, media filters, and washable metal screens deliver clean coolant down to 25–50 microns.
Continuous Supply of Clean Coolant: Filtered coolant is supplied to all CNC machines with stable pressure and high flow rate, improving machining accuracy and tool life.
Automatic Sludge and Chip Removal: Equipped with scraper conveyors, sludge pumps, or automatic discharge systems to continuously remove accumulated sediment.
Intelligent Control & Automation: Features full automation with:
Level monitoring
Pressure sensors
Overflow and clogging alarms
Automatic start/stop
Integrated PLC + HMI control
Cleaner and More Organized Factory Layout: Centralized filtration eliminates small tanks under each machine, creating a cleaner, safer, and more ergonomic work environment.

Central Filtration System
-
How does a Central Filtration System work? The system collects contaminated coolant from multiple CNC machines, filters it through multi-stage filtration, and redistributes clean coolant back to all machines.
-
How many CNC machines can it support?Depending on system capacity, it can support 5 to 50+ machines. The filtration volume is modular and scalable.
-
What is the filtration accuracy?Depending on the selected modules: Magnetic separator: for ferromagnetic particles Drum filter: 25–60 microns Paper media filter: 30–50 microns Wire mesh filter: 50–100 microns (washable) This allows highly stable multi-stage filtration.
-
Is energy consumption high? No. Since separate filters and pumps are not needed for each machine, the overall energy usage is significantly reduced.
-
How is the required flow rate and pressure determined? It is based on CNC machine count, chip load, and total machining capacity. Typically, a site inspection is performed to calculate exact requirements.
-
How are sludge and heavy chips removed? The system uses: Scraper conveyor Sludge pump Automatic sludge discharge system to continuously remove sediment.
-
If the central system fails, do all machines stop? No. The system includes backup pumps, emergency bypass lines, and alarm systems to prevent complete production stoppage.
-
What is the installation process?Installation includes tank placement, pipeline routing, sensor installation, and system commissioning. Astor Europe’s technical team manages the entire process.
-
Is maintenance difficult? Not at all. It is easier than maintaining multiple standalone machine tanks. Filter replacement and sludge removal are done periodically.
-
Can it be integrated into an existing CNC production line?Yes. Integration is possible in almost all facilities. Plumbing, pumps, and tank modules can be adapted to existing machine layouts.
